I agree, and am very grateful for that. There are a couple things that aren't clear through the PSD though, such as what exactly displacement is and how you a did it, how you did your smudging (I tried to play around on my own with the smudge tool and couldnt replicate your consistency - what settings did you use, and did you use a stylus?), and what a reasonable alternative to homemade C4D would be for those of us who arent versed in it (eg: if others wanted a similar effect, but could not use custom C4D sketches as their "color base", what would be a good alternative?
Displacement is a filter. It's under filter, distort, displace. It's kind of hard to explain how it works, but play around with it and you'll see. I don't know what settings I used, but experimenting is how I got some nice effects with it.
For the smudging, I had a hard circle brush with scatter – in the brush pallet – at around 87%. I used a mouse as well.
As for c4ds, many people let you download theirs to use as resources, so you don't need to know how to make them. But any sort of image can get you a c4dish effect if you change the blending mode.
